Dynamic Scheduling for a Turbo CDMA Receiver using EXIT Charts

چکیده
In this paper we utilize extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis in a coded direct-sequence codedivision multiple-access (DS-CDMA) multiuser receiver to dynamically derive the optimal decoding schedule in the unequal user power level case. Conventional receivers generally follow a predetermined decoding schedule. However, decoding delay and complexity can be significantly reduced while maintaining BER performance through optimisation of the decoding schedule. We show dynamic scheduling, that is deriving the optimal schedule on-line after each iteration of the receiver, is a more flexible approach which improves the BER performance in comparison to the static (off-line) optimised schedule for similar complexity savings over the conventional receiver.

Fidelity Charts and Stopping/Termination Criteria for Iterative Multiuser Detection
An iterative multiuser detection (IMUD) receiver is considered for a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system with turbo codes. Fidelity is considered as a metric for convergence analysis and an approximation of fidelity as a function of variance of the log-likelihood ratios is introduced. Fidelity charts are compared with extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts as tools for convergence...
متن کاملExit charts for turbo receivers in MIMO systems
Iterative exchange of information between a decoder and a front end receiver was shown to improve the performance when comparing to non-iterative approach. This so-called turbo processing may be described using Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts which were already used in case of turbo decoders and turbo-equalizers. This work extends the EXIT charts technique to describe the behavior ...
متن کاملExit Chart Analysis Applied to Adaptive Turbo Equalization
In this paper we consider iterative channel estimation, equalization, and decoding, or adaptive Turbo equalization, as a receiver technology for digital communication systems where the channel imposes time-varying intersymbol interference. We show how a semianalytical technique called EXIT charts, originally developed by S. ten Brink for analysis of Turbo codes, can be used to predict the perfo...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملConstruction of low-rate power-efficient coding schemes and their application to CDMA
In this paper we propose a novel design method, which is an extension to the EXIT charts introduced in [5], for low–rate power–efficient codes. An exemplary design of a rate–1/4 code shows more than 1 dB more coding gain than the original turbo– code [2] of rate–1/2. Using this code in a CDMA scheme while reducing the spreading by a factor of 2 helps improving the overall performance of the mul...
